This estimate assumes the entered dose was taken every day. It does not account for missed doses or future dose changes.

How the Accutane cumulative dose estimate works

The calculator converts weight to kilograms, multiplies it by 150 and 220 mg/kg, then compares those totals with the dose history you enter. For current users, every completed month represents 30 treatment days. The current partial month uses the exact number of days entered.

Future milestone dates assume the future prescribed daily dose remains unchanged and is taken every day. The calculator rounds partial days up because a milestone is not reached until the full calculated dose has been taken.

Why these are reference milestones

Cumulative-dose practices vary. NICE describes 120–150 mg/kg and allows treatment to stop sooner after an adequate response. Researchers have studied 220 mg/kg as a higher cumulative dose, but it is not a universal treatment target. This calculator uses 150 and 220 mg/kg as comparison points; it does not suggest that every person should reach either value.

Read the NICE acne recommendations, the 2024 American Academy of Dermatology guideline, and the higher cumulative-dose observational study.

All calculations happen in your browser. IsoPal does not save or send the weight, dose history, dates, or results you enter. Reloading or leaving the page clears the calculator.

Accutane cumulative dose calculator FAQ

Is 150–220 mg/kg the recommended Accutane target?

No. This calculator presents 150 and 220 mg/kg as reference milestones. Guidelines and prescribing practices vary, and cumulative exposure alone does not determine when treatment should stop.

How is a completed treatment month calculated?

Each completed month counts as 30 treatment days. If your dose changed, enter the prescribed daily dose separately for each completed month.

Can I enter my weight in pounds?

Yes. Pounds are converted to kilograms using 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg before the milestone totals are calculated.

Does the calculator account for missed doses?

No. It assumes the entered dose was taken every day. The estimate may overstate cumulative exposure if doses were missed.

Can this calculator tell me when to stop Accutane?

No. It estimates mathematical milestones only. Ask your prescriber about dose changes, side effects, treatment duration, and when to stop.
